At
the time of its construction, Rob Roy was one of
only three bitumen surfaced purpose built hillclimbs in the world, the
other two being Shelsley
Walsh and Prescott
(UK). Its origins go back to 1935, when representatives from the then Light Car Club of Australia inspected the property known as Clinton's Pleasure Grounds with a view to establishing a suitable venue for the hillclimb meetings. More history here |

Rob Roy Hill Climb is now officially associated with
Prescott Speed
Hill Climb in the UK. This is managed by the Bugatti Car Club. On Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June 2013, Prescott Hill Climb will be saying "G'day sport" as they give a big warm welcome to motor sport competitors from Rob Roy Hill Climb, Australia. Competitors representing two famous venues in hill climb history will go head to head, for what is dubbed as the hill climb equivalent of the “Ashes”, as each country hopes to secure The Brake Shoes Trophy.
