MG TC Register of Victoria, Australia
What TC's are all about! A panoramic view by El Presidente Ian McKenzie (pity about that power pole, Ian) of the scene at the highly successful 60th Birthday Bash at Yering Farm on September 18th - see below. Click for a larger view (it works on Windows - just don't forget to enlarge the window and then you can pan!) The TC Register
Well here we are at last in our brand new site kindly hosted by the MG Car Club of Victoria. No more capacity problems so hopefully in the coming months we'll be able to show some of the superb pictures that TC owners have sent me over time. This latest revision once again includes Mac's Pics and we have some more pics of new cars as they continue to slowly emerge out of old barns!. The list of cars in Victoria excluding the Southern Riverina (which are now in the interstate section) now total over 380. Although we have pictures of many many cars, there are still a lot of gaps and I welcome pics at any time either via email or by post. An entry without a picture is just a number, but a picture is always interesting even though it may be a pile of bits!
The TC 60th Anniversary Bash - a Great Success
We are sure that the 110 odd TC's and their owners who attended the Birthday Bash on September 18th will remember it for a long time. Put 110 (odd) TC owner's together with their cars, their wives, husbands etc at a winery in the Yarra Valley with Donna Buang in the distance on a lovely spring day, well really that is what TC motoring is all about!
Winners were :- Most Original Jon Darvall, Most Disreputable John Noble, Most Presentable John Jeffreys (a brand new owner - well done John) and Best Boy Racer Pat Ryan (although I think those megas were a bit of a con Pat - they just didn't make enough noise). But we were all winners. Captain Colin managed to slot in a beautiful sunny day in amongst a week of gales, torrential rain, and cold and the food, wine and company was terrific. Well done to all the committee and all the people who came from far and wide (Queensland, Wodonga, Mildura, Glenmaggie, Moe etc etc and not forgetting a strong contingent from Geelong). So thanks people for making it a great success - see you in 10 years time!
The TC 60th Anniversary Bash - Photos!
I have made some pdf's of photos of all the 109 odd cars that were present at the Bash for your interest and entertainment. To keep the file size down (to about 400kb) I have split them into pages. Click on the links to download. The pages are in Registration number order with numberless cars on page 1. You'll need Acrobat Reader installed of course. You might find that your firewalls put up an objection to active content but I can assure you the pdf's are bug free, so enjoy!
The TC Register
As regular visitors will know, the site lists and illustrates about 380 TC's that are known to exist in Victoria plus a number of others from elsewhere in Oz and round the world. This has to be a pretty remarkable thing for a car the youngest of which turn 56 this year. Over the period that the site has been up (which is now almost 7 years), we have been recognised as a leading MG site in "MG World" and I've had lots of e-mails from people all over the world, all about the bit of enjoying these great little cars.
Progress on the project to build a world wide TC Register has taken a positive turn with Reg O'Malley of Adelaide and I now working together to amalgamate the South Australian and Victorian Registers. Some time ago, Bob Grunau sent me the Ontario register, and this has been available since in a text file which can be accessed from the "Towards a World Register" page. Any other TC registrars who would like to assist are very welcome to contact me.
"Mac's Pics" is worth a visit. Richard Townley has given excellent support in chasing "new" cars, and many people have helped in other ways. Many other people have contributed their advice and knowledge freely. Thanks fellas.
For newcomers, navigation is simply a matter of browsing the lists which are in chassis number order, and clicking on a thumbnail will bring up a much bigger picture.
And there a number of other pages that you might like to browse through via the navigation bar.
Enjoy!
And if you have a TC (or even just an MG!), wherever you are in the world send me an e-mail to Richard Millington -click here- and tell me about your car
